Back in 2018, we had a bill here in California called AB 2779 that didn’t get to the floor for a vote in our state legislative body. Basically, AB 2779 would require that every plastic bottle sold in the state of California have a cap that is fastened to the bottle. This would greatly reduce the amount of plastic pollution here in Califronia because it would ensure that bottles are recycled with their caps. The percentage of bottle caps ending up in our waterways would decrease significantly. It seems like a no-brainer to pass this bill as it would greatly reduce the amount of bottle cap pollution on the state of California and even save manufacturing costs. However, the bill was shut down and it is currently not active. Our goal is to revive this bill. It is imperative to do so in order to protect our marine ecosystems.
